NAME: line — That character says or sings the line. A new name switches the voice.
HANK: Hey Earl, the band's got a song for you
(SYNC) — Put after the name. That singer's mouth moves on camera for that line only.
HANK: (SYNC) Hey Earl…
(SPOKEN) — Song ads: the line is talked, not sung — like a guy in the crowd yelling back. Works most of the time; make a new song if it still sings.
EARL: (SPOKEN) I don't sing, I just drink my beer
(SPOKEN) + (SYNC) — Both together: he talks the line and his mouth moves.
EARL: (SPOKEN) (SYNC) Yeah right, buddy
(V.O.) — Spoken drama: a narrator says it while the character stays silent on screen.
MAYA (V.O.): I knew he was lying.
[Chorus] / [Verse] — A line on its own in brackets marks a song section.
[Chorus]
No name — Plain lines go to the narrator (drama) or the main singer (song).
